One Gas Process Improvement Consultant in Austin, Texas

Position Description:

PLEASE NOTE: This position can be based in Austin, Oklahoma City, Overland Park, Topeka or Tulsa

Provides direction, coordination, training, and support to business process owners and process improvement teams in development and implementation of business process improvements. The primary focus of this position will provide support with the Gas Marketing / Purchase application for the Gas Supply groups across the enterprise.

Lead and facilitate daily support of the Gas Supply / Purchase application for TGS, ONG, and KGS including but not limited to the following:

  • Deal Capture

  • Nominations

  • Allocations

  • Invoicing

  • Measurement

  • Forecasting

  • Pipeline Balancing

Direct and/or facilitate activities with business process owners, quality assurance committee, and division management related to the following:

  • Defining and analyzing core business processes

  • Identifying key processes for review

  • Conducting gap analyses

  • Developing strategies

  • Mapping processes

  • Performing process analyses

  • Developing measurements and improvements for processes

  • Implementing changes

Identify business requirements needed to support process improvements. Coordinate related work with internal and external support groups to ensure business process and technology improvements satisfy business requirements and strategic plans.

Select process improvement team members to ensure experience and skill levels are appropriate for process to be reviewed. Lead and/or coordinate activities of process improvement teams to ensure ready access to personnel, facilities, and documentation needed to implement business process improvements.

Monitor industry and company best practices; provide recommendations regarding implementation of business process and/or technology improvements.

Maintain ongoing communications with process improvement teams, quality assurance committee, division management, and others relative to process improvement activities.

Provide training to business process owners and process improvement teams in process improvement methodology, analysis, documentation, and reporting.

Prepare and/or analyze and approve reports and correspondence including but not limited to:

  • Process charts

  • Training plans

  • Progress reports

  • Budgets and expenses

  • Statistical data

Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

Position Requirements:


  • Must have industry experience


  • Experience / knowledge of gas supply purchase / marketing processes strongly preferred

  • Experience / knowledge of gas management applications

  • Technical skills working within the natural gas industry's various processes and applications

  • Project implementation experience

  • Experience with process improvement processes

Minimum bachelor's degree in business administration, management, engineering, or other related field with experience in gas supply / marketing and process improvement methodologies OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience and working knowledge in gas supply processes including but not limited to forecasting, deal capture, nominations, measurement, allocations, invoicing and pipeline balancing.

Experience working within an industry gas management application such as Trellis and Quorum Gas Manager.

Experience researching, planning, and/or reviewing processes and preparing related recommendations and documentation.

Experience leading others in process reviews, business analyses, and/or special projects that include defining business requirements and developing strategies to improve work flow.

Experience with the application of math and statistical methods.

Experience in use and function of office equipment including enterprise database applications, computers, and applicable software.

Experience and/or training relative to:

  • Process improvement methods such as Lean Six Sigma

  • Process mapping methods

  • Developing and analyzing applicable metrics

  • Train-the-trainers skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite applications

  • Interpersonal/communication skills

  • Working knowledge of company organizational structure.

Experience researching, analyzing, compiling, and/or preparing information such as progress reports, process charts, policies and procedures, budgets, training materials, and correspondence.

Experience negotiating, interacting, advising, and communicating effectively.

Experience reading and interpreting company policies and procedures, manuals, governmental regulations, charts and graphs, contracts, and correspondence.

Experience leading, directing, and training.

Experience developing information, conducting meetings, and making formal presentations.

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Minimum Requires completion of courses toward accreditation in Six Sigma Process Improvement and/or other process improvement methodology as required by Company.

Requires mobility to travel in and around office facilities and to other company locations.

Communicate and/or exchange information or instructions; conduct oral presentations and/or meetings.

Visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
