One Gas Service Tech II Meter Reading in Austin, Texas
Performs an intermediate level of work related to meter reading.
Read gas meters; enter/record data utilizing hand-held electronic meter reading equipment.
Update and/or maintain reports and records including but not limited to:
Customer account information
Recognize and report potentially hazardous situations.
Perform preventive maintenance on meters and vacant meter settings.
Installation, programming and troubleshooting electronic reader transmitters (ERTs).
Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Experience in use and function of meter reading equipment.
Experience with the application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (tested).
Experience in use and function of tools and equipment applicable to position including accessing computers and software.
Demonstrated ability to recognize difference between pairs of numbers (tested).
Experience and training relative to company and governmental customer service/safety procedures
Experience reading and interpreting maps, addresses, dials, gauges, and customer account information.
Experience and knowledge in basic computer functions and relevant software.
Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
Minimum Applicable driver's license
Carry objects weighing up to 5 pounds continuously each day; lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds 15 20 times a day; over 50 pounds 3 5 times a day.
Travel over uneven terrain including but not limited to:
Walk, stand, kneel/stoop, and drive for extended periods.
Climb over and around barriers; move obstacles obstructing view.
React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
Smell odorant in natural gas.
Able to operate tools and equipment required.
Communicate and/or exchange information and instructions.
Visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
