Engineer III - TIMP Risk Engineer (Hybrid)

As the Risk Engineer, you will develop and implement the Transmission Pipeline Integrity Management Program (TIMP) Risk Management Program. Responsibilities include providing pipeline integrity related technical support, development and continuous improvement of pipeline integrity related processes, procedures, and applications. The Risk Engineer will report to the Manager of Pipeline Integrity. We are looking for candidates with five or more years of pipeline integrity or pipeline engineering experience.

This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule and currently works Monday - Wednesday in office; Thursday and Friday remote. The schedule is subject to change based on needs. Preferred base location is Tulsa, OK.

What You Will Do

Implement the risk assessment/threat evaluation, risk ranking, long term assessment planning, P&M measure determination and tracking.

Perform risk analysis for specific assets including coordination of data collection, understanding the risk algorithms, risk analysis, and development and presentation of analytical representation of risk results.

Lead Pipeline integrity assessment planning including in-line inspections, direct assessments, and hydrostatic testing.

Manage all aspects of pipeline integrity process; plan and coordinate tests and gather required documentation to facilitate integrated risk analysis.

Coordinate and perform an advanced level of Pipeline Integrity engineering analyses to evaluate pipeline integrity defects and specify remedial actions.

Participate in integrity assessment planning work processes to select assessment intervals and methods.

Facilitate efforts to validate structures and identified sites.

Lead collaborative efforts to identify additional preventive and mitigative measures.

Provide input to new construction pipelines and due diligence to support Pipeline Integrity efforts.

Support the collection of integrity program performance measures.

Stay current with the pipeline regulations, industry standards, integrity assessment methods, repair methods, etc.

Help develop and maintain asset integrity related policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Manage and coordinate any changes to the Transmission Pipelines through MOC process.

Coordinate pipeline integrity projects among regions, departments (Accounting, Contract Administration, Operating, and Customer Services), and contractors to include:

  • Preparation of bid requests and associated research

  • Administration of contracts

  • Coordination with Corrosion Control and other Field Operations Leads

  • Oversight and administration of Pipeline Integrity contractors

  • Evaluation of transmission system capacity, reliability, and risk

Provide technical and engineering guidance and support to management, employees, governmental/ regulatory personnel, contractors, customers, and others on matters including:

  • TIMP policies and procedures development

  • Integrity regulatory requirements

  • Utilization of materials or instrumentation

  • Integrity data analyses

  • Material specifications/selections

  • Asset risk analysis

  • Strategic planning to enhance risk mitigation

  • Emergency valve isolation plans for pipeline systems

  • Integrity assessment, inspection, and repair technologies

  • Right of way and permitting

  • Process improvement for quality and compliance assurance

Research, analyze, prepare, and/or approve information including:

  • Engineering studies

  • Governmental rules, regulations, codes, and standards

  • Pipeline Integrity Assessment project bid proposals

  • Construction, service, or consulting contracts

Provide technical support, make recommendations, and oversee the process integration, implementation, rollout, and routine use of technical and software systems including leading and guiding staff members at lower levels. Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

What You Will Need

Training and Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required.

  • Professional Engineering license is strongly preferred.

  • Sound understanding with mathematics, algebraic formulas, and statistics.

  • Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office software products including Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.

  • Experience in use of GIS data systems.

  • Experience with use of Maximo preferred.

Required Experience, Competency, and Training:

  • Transmission/distribution pipeline operations experience

  • Company/governmental operating and safety procedures

  • Material failure investigations

  • Pipeline stress/strain analyses

  • Reading and interpreting governmental regulations, blueprints, contracts, manuals, specifications, surveys, charts, load studies, and multiple reports and correspondence

  • Demonstrated ability to direct and delegate work assignments

  • Minimum applicable driver's license

  • Mobility to travel in and around plant and office facilities and around job sites out of doors.

  • Operate tools and equipment required

  • Visual abilities to perform job responsibilities

Communications

  • Experience developing information and making presentations to groups and individuals

  • Experience negotiating, advising, and communicating in collaborative work teams.

  • Read and write fluently in English.
