What does a successful candidate look like?
Familiarity with construction projects preferred.
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
Experience working with Microsoft Office.
Performs a basic level of project planning and engineering drafting utilizing platforms such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ESRI ArcMap (GIS) to create and edit engineering and construction drawings.
Aids in engineering support and drafting through basic understanding of engineering records, third party civil site plans and utility infrastructure data, traffic control plans, governmental engineering plans, GIS data, highway/railroad crossing permits, right of way drawings and survey information, architectural/mechanical drawings and environmental impacts and permits.
Uses Windows based software, AutoCAD and Civil 3D, ESRI ArcMap GIS, Solidworks, Microsoft suites, adobe products and general knowledge of plotter equipment to create, edit and maintain data relevant to gas design, reports, system planning for simple services, smaller growth projects and replacements.
Drafts small scale site plans, limits of construction, public right of way utility plan view layouts, proposed alignment of gas facilities, paving, restoration and traffic control plans.
Enters construction project data into Maximo related to asset identification, field work orders, job plans, management of change orders and technical reviews.
Recognizes and notifies Engineers of project/customer requests that may impact distribution system capacity and pressures.
Acquires necessary public right-of-way, development and/or general permits with city, county, railroad, canal, state and various environmental agencies.
Works Collaboratively with various team members and field departments.
Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Minimum H.S. Diploma
Basic understanding of pipeline design, drafting, project management and project estimations.
Application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Application of decimals and percentages. Application of geometric formulas and ability to convert between various units.
Basic project management skills and research capability.
Organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize projects effectively.
Basic understanding of records, files, data systems, numbering systems, filing structures, and available resources. Must be able to retrieve and return records to their appropriate locations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.
Minimum Applicable driver's license. Requires travel to other company offices and facilities and to job sites.
Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 2 to 3 times a week; up to 30 pounds 3 to 4 times a month.
Stationary for extended periods.
Fine motor skills to draw minute details.
Able to operate tools and equipment as required.
Some field visits will be required to ensure correct location, assess site conditions, identify construction constraints and obstacles and discuss timelines.
Visual ability sufficient to perform job duties.
